The Maxwell field on the Schwarzschild spacetime: behaviour near spatial infinity
نویسنده
چکیده
The behaviour of the Maxwell field near one of the spatial infinities of the Schwarzschild solution is analysed by means of the transport equations implied by the Maxwell equations on the cylinder at spatial infinity. Initial data for the Maxwell equations will be assumed to be expandable in terms of powers of a coordinate ρ measuring the geodesic distance to spatial infinity (in the conformal picture) and such that the highest possible spherical harmonics at order p are 2-polar ones. It is shown that if the 2-polar harmonics at order p in the initial data satisfy a certain regularity condition then the solutions to the transport equations at orders p and p+1 are completely regular at the critical sets where null infinity touches spatial infinity. On the other hand, the solutions to the transport equations of order p+ 2 contain, in general, logarithmic singularities at the critical sets. It is expected that the ideas and techniques developed in the analysis of this problem can be employed to discuss the more challenging case of the transport equations implied by the conformal Einstein equations, and thus provide a way of constructing a proof of a certain rigidity conjecture concerning the developments of conformally flat initial data sets.

Estimates for the Maxwell field near the spatial and null infinity of the Schwarzschild spacetime
It is shown how the gauge of the “regular finite initial value problem at spacelike infinity” can be used to construct a certain type of estimates for the Maxwell field propagating on a Schwarzschild background. These estimates are constructed with the objective of obtaining information about the smoothness near spacelike and null infinity of a wide class of solutions to the Maxwell equations.

A general solution to the vacuum Einstein equations which admits the Ashtekar isolated horizon is characterized. It is a superposition – in an exactly defined sense – of the Schwarzschild metric with a certain free data propagating tangentially to the horizon. This proves Ashtekar’s conjecture about the structure of spacetime near the isolated horizon. The same superposition method applied to t...
متن کاملString instabilities in black hole spacetimes.
We study the emergence of string instabilities in D dimensional black hole spacetimes (Schwarzschild and Reissner Nordstrøm), and De Sitter space (in static coordinates to allow a better comparison with the black hole case). We solve the first order string fluctuations around the center of mass motion at spatial infinity, near the horizon and at the spacetime singularity. We find that the time ...
متن کاملRadiation Fields on Schwarzschild Spacetime
In this paper we define the radiation field for the wave equation on the Schwarzschild black hole spacetime. In this context it has two components: the rescaled restriction of the time derivative of a solution to null infinity and to the event horizon. In the process, we establish some regularity properties of solutions of the wave equation on the spacetime. In particular, we prove that the reg...
متن کاملLate Time Behaviour of the Maximal Slicing of the Schwarzschild Black Hole
A time-symmetric Cauchy slice of the extended Schwarzschild spacetime can be evolved into a foliation of the r > 3m/2-region of the spacetime by maximal surfaces with the requirement that time runs equally fast at both spatial ends of the manifold. This paper studies the behaviour of these slices in the limit as proper time-at-infinity becomes arbitrarily large and gives an analytic expression ...
